Canadian Students Scholarship in Japan is Open!

Study in Japan, Mext Scholarship Program

Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is offering scholarships to Canadian students wishing to pursue their studies at a Japanese university.

Scholarships in Japan for Canadian students is fully funded for those who wants to persue their studies at a Japanese University. All Canadian students or Canadian applicants they have been given this offers in a two Level of Study Research students and Undergraduate students.

This Scholarship is funded by the Governments of Japan. Scholarship in Japan for Canadian Students covers Full tuition, Monthly allowance, Round-trip flight between Japan and Canada, Japanese Language Training.

Host University/ Institution: Japanese university

Host Country: Japan

Funded by: Governments of Japan.

Level of Study: Research students and Undergraduate students.

Research Students

·         Funding organization: Government of Japan

·         Target audiences: Canadians with Bachelor’s degree or higher

·         Duration: 2 years, beginning in April 2023 or 18 months, beginning in October 2023

·         Inclusions: Full tuition, monthly allowance & round trip flight

·         Deadline: May 18, 2022

Undergraduate Students

·         Funding organization: Government of Japan

·         Target audiences: Canadians with high school diploma or higher

·         Duration: 5 years or 7 years

·         Inclusions: Full tuition, monthly allowance & round trip flight

·         Deadline: June 2, 2022

Applicants MUST read through the Application Guidelines below and follow the instructions. Application Forms along with Certificate of Health, and Recommendation Letter should be submitted to the Japanese embassy or consulate general in your country. These documents can be printed out and filled in by hand-written, typed out, or filled in with software applications and printed out. Click here for more informations.

·         Age: born on or after April 2, 1988 (for the 2023 recruitment)

·         Study area: the same field that the applicant has studied, or a related field

·         Nationality: Canadian

NOTE: The selection process may be cancelled or applicants may be unable to travel to Japan even after being selected for the MEXT Scholarship Program due to measures taken in response to COVID-19.

·         Consulate General of Japan in Montreal Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Labrador and Newfoundland residents)
